Medicare Supplement Marketing Strategy |
Selling insurance can be both relatively easy and very profitable with the proper knowledge and training. Without it, it can be one of the most difficult, frustrating jobs on earth. When it works it is almost like having a license to steal, when it doesn’t it just plain sucks.
I began my insurance career on July 5, 1993 as a captive agent to sell Medicare Supplement Insurance. I was promised training and leads.
My “training” consisted of two hours of the manager telling me how big and powerful he was and a copy of the Medicare Guide Book. I was then handed my “leads”. My “leads” consisted of a Voter Registration List.
After handing me my “leads” the manager then said he was going to teach me to use the phone to call my “leads” and set appointments. This is what I was told to say:
“Hello Mrs. Smith, my name is Frank Stastny. We recently sent you valuable information about the changes Medicare has made, do you recall having received that information? You don’t? That is valuable information that you need to know. I’m going to be in your area on Thursday is it okay if I stop by and drop that information off?”
